| Marine Surveying : Has been permanently based in Hong Kong since early 2012 & has worked in Australia, the South Pacific & Hong Kong since 2001. Before that was based in UK. Began marine surveying career by conducting salvage & repair evaluation inspections in 1991. |
A surveyor full-time since 2005, has conducted pre-purchase, compliance & insurance surveys on yachts, boats & barges; flag state ship surveys; load-line surveys; damage assessments; cargo surveys; yacht/project cargo/heavy-lift load/discharge surveys.

| Compass Adjusting : Has adjusted magnetic compasses on many hundred vessels of all types & sizes; installed new compass systems on fishing trawlers, sailing & motor yachts, merchant vessels & warships. |

Shipwright : Has undertaken a number of renovation projects on historic ships & wooden boats; carried out professional repairs, refits & conversions on wooden, steel, aluminium & FRP vessels from <10 metres to 200 metres LOA; has owned & enjoyed wooden boats since 1976.
Carried out & overseen preparatory & remedial work for Load-Line, Class, Port/State Control & Flag-State surveys.

Seafarer : Career began in 1972 on British tramp cargo ships; Chief Petty Officer (Carpenter) with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary; Carpenter & Boatswain on salvage & merchant ships.
Later trained as navigating officer in the UK; Mate on salvage vessel; Master (V) on Australian East Coast; Rescue Boat Crew/Training Officer with Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.
